You often hear people in sushi bars ask for dry, or "karakuchi" sakes. But since sweetness is present in all sakes to a greater or lesser degree, what exactly does this mean?
We'll try 37 different sakes, from the winsomely sweet daiginjos of Kyoto to astringently dry junmai brewed in the "Noto Toji" tradition. During the final hour sakes are paired with signature Ozumo appetizers.
This year's Aftertaste season kicks off with a sake-tasting event at Ozumo's new location in Oakland, with an exploration of what "dry" sake is all about. This is the first Aftertaste for the East Bay and we hope you will be able to attend.
Reservations may be made on-line at the Aftertaste Ticket Store or by calling Pua at 808-222-0195. Attendance is limited to 50 persons.
