Join us for a special namazake and beer tasting at Beer Lab Hawaii, Honolulu’s only sake, beer and kombucha microbrewery. This cool, casual brewery space was created by three local technical engineers who converted part of the old Bank of Hawaii in Moiliili into both a microbrewery and a place to taste the many different beers and ales made on the premises.

Eulerson Pajimula, BeerLab’s chief brewer, loves sake and with his partners took up the challenge of making it in Hawaii, specializing in unpasteurized and unfiltered namzake. To the best of our knowledge this is the first commercial sake-brewing operation to appear in Hawaii since the Honolulu Sake Brewery shut its doors in 1989.

The evening will begin with a brief talk by the team on their experience of making sake in Hawaii, followed by a tasting of three of their namazakes and one craft beer. In addition there will be a selection of sakes from the Joy of Sake archives, including a number of gold-award-winning junmais, whose flavor profiles are closest to beer’s. It’s a casual evening of sake sipping and beer tasting with local snacks, poke and bentos to fill in the corners.
